Erin Ward strives to find out what it means to thrive and how to help others to do the same. Movement, breath, and meditation have evolved as her primary access points to freedom from suffering states of being.

Born and raised on the east coast, Erin defined herself early on as an athlete, spending most of her time on the basketball court, the lacrosse field, and the track. It was when she landed in NYC for college that her world turned upside down. Battling anxiety, Erin was baptized into the yoga practice and never looked back. She took solace in intentional movement and patient, meditative breathing. The yoga practice took her out of the mind chatter and into her body — physically, emotionally, and energetically. From that place of mental rock bottom, through the dedication of practice and perseverance, Erin emerged as a certified yoga teacher and a mission to make as big of an impact on the lives of the community as possible.

As a teacher and a writer, Erin looks for the weaving together of philosophy and practicality to foster a safe space for people to come, just as they are, move and breathe through whatever they’re going through, and tap into something bigger than their personal story. In her opinion, the linking of breath and movement is poetry that carries us to a higher state.

When she came out to LA to help open a yoga studio, she serendipitously met fellow teacher Natalie Kuhn, and their soulful sisterhood was immediately felt. Erin trained with Natalie during the first round of the West Coast Teacher Training, and soon after moved to help The Class by Taryn Toomey team with back-end support due to her deep feeling of connection with the mission, the ethos, and the magical members of the team.

When you walk into Erin’s class, the main thing she wants you to feel is that you’ve arrived home. No matter what is waiting for you out in your world, come to move with it, look at it, deconstruct it, clear it, and celebrate you — the you that exists beneath the noise. You will be tested physically and asked to get into it, but you will be held, seen, and supported the entire way through. She is known to offer sweaty, post-class bear hugs and the confession that she loves you.

Erin made a pact to the universe to stay on this path, to show up fully to the mat and aid in the transformation of self and those who commit to showing up with her. She’ll see you there, ready to work.
